My New Grandaughter

I had made the intention to be at the birth of my fifteenth grandchild.  As soon as I got the call from my daughter that she could be in labour, I hit the motorway immediately.  The journey from London to Derby is usually under two hours so I figured I'd get there in time.  Whilst making a quick stop at my favourite Costa Coffee at a motorway service station, my mobile rang and guess what? It was my daughter she'd had the baby. I'd missed everything! I told her where I was and that she should now call the baby 'Costa'.  Probably not the best name for a girl!

So my grandchild number fifteen is a girl.  My daughter had a natural birth - no need for any interventions it was that quick!  She delivered the baby in the hospital, although the initial plan was to have her at home. The midwife came over whilst my daughter was in labour and when the waters broke she found that the baby had had a bowel movement, which is a sign of distress. So they had to go to the hospital as a routine cautionary procedure. When the baby was born her head was completely covered in thick, brown, sticky meconium.  I met up with them there and met my new beautiful grand-daughter (hair still covered in brown sticky stuff).  I am so blessed.
